25 December 2012 - Being non-Christians, we have never celebrated Christmas or made any special plans on this day but this year Hubby and I decided to bring some Christmas cheer to the kids and elderly folks at Pusat Jagaan Beribuan Kasih Kajang. "Santa" did not come bearing gifts in his Sleigh but instead brought them delightful treats such as Mini Donuts, Fruit Tart, Sushi rolls and a 2kg Rainbow Cake. The kids' face lit up as each treat made their appearance on the table. The one who got their attention the most has to be the Sushi rolls, which most has never seen before, let alone eat them.

Apart from the above goodies, other non-edible items which stocked up the Sleigh were new School Bags, School Shoes and stationeries, items much welcomed and appreciated by Orphanages to help them ease their burden for the new school year. Hubby's colleague, Alex contributed school socks and more stationery items. The donor of the school bags is none other than Mr Chandra, another of Hubby's colleague who is a regular contributor towards our charity causes. Much appreciation to him for his kind contribution as I was later informed by Kavitha that most of her kids were overjoyed as they had never owned a new school bag before.

As usual, our 3 sons, not wanting to be left out, contributed Party Packs out of their own pocket money. Each pack consist of snacks, sweets, chocs, balloons, paper blowers and whistles which delighted the kids to bits.

Upon noticing some open wounds on the Japanese lady who has a habit of scratching her legs till they bleed, dear Hubby immediately got down to tend to it, gently cleaning the wound before applying antiseptic. Hubby's caring gesture never fail to make my heart swell with pride.

We were happy to note that group of Good Samaritans had visited the Home some weeks back and got a local Contractor to rectify the leaking roof problems and even gave the building a paint-over. The new coat of paint together with the kids' laughter and adorable antics, gave this place a cheerier atmosphere. Hopefully, more will come forward to help turn this place into a more comfortable Home for the kids and elderly folks. As per our last visit, we notice the existing need for study tables and wardrobes, most which were destroyed in the last big flood few months ago. It would be nice too for the place to have floor tiles instead of the existing cement render floor, as the kids and elderly folks tend to spend their time on the floor, doing homework, playing games, reading and resting.
Merry Christmas Folks!!!
